Example Complex logbase 002

 

 

Description

These examples use the logbase function to compute the logarithm of a number to base 10 or whatever optional base you specify.

 

Details

(setq X (new Complex: 10.0 0.0)) Returns: #<Complex 123456>

The result of the logbase function is:

(logbase X 10.0) Returns: #c1.0
(setq X (new Complex: 0.0 -4.0)) Returns: #<Complex 234567>

The result of the logbase function is:

(logbase X 2.0) Returns: #c2.0-2.266i
(setq X (new Complex: 0.0 2.71828)) Returns: #<Complex 345678>

The result of the logbase function is:

(logbase X 2.71828) Returns: #c1.0+1.571i

Notes and Hints

The logarithm is the inverse of expt. For example, for Value given by (setq Value (expt 2.71828 power)), (log Value) returns power.
