Description

These examples use the log function to compute the natural logarithm of its argument.

 

Details

(setq X (new Complex: 3.0 4.0)) Returns: #<Complex 123456>

The result of the log function is:

(log X) Returns: #c1.61+0.927i
(setq X (new Complex: 3.0 -4.0)) Returns: #<Complex 234567>

The result of the log function is:

(log X) Returns: #c1.61-0.927i
(setq X (new Complex: -2.71828)) Returns: #<Complex 345678>

The result of the log function is:

(log X) Returns: #c1.0+3.142i
(setq X (new Complex: 0.0 2.71828)) Returns: #<Complex 3456789>

The result of the log function is:

(log X) Returns: #c1.0+1.571i

Notes and Hints

The logarithm is the inverse of expt. For example, for Value given by (setq Value (expt 2.71828 power)), (log Value) returns power.
