Example Character defmethod 013

 

 

Description

This example defines a method named Vowel that is invoked when the Character type receives an isVowel message. The Vowel method method converts the Character Value, to the English word "Yes" or to the English word "No" depending upon whether or not the character is a vowel.

 

Details

First Define the Vowel method:

(defmethod Character: Vowel(c) (if (isMember c #(#\a #\e #\i #\o #\u #\A #\E #\I #\O #\U)) then "Yes" else "No") ) Returns: #<Dictionary 123456>

To invoke the Lambda that responds to the isVowel message, issue the following statement:

(send isVowel: #\c) Returns: No

Alternatively, the Lambda may be invoked using the following syntax:

(isVowel: #\c) Returns: No
