Description

This example uses the {proc} argument to the defmethod function. The {proc} argument is coded inline using a lambda statement.

 

Details

Define the Add method:

(defmethod Void: Add(a b) ( writeln "Cannot Add to value:" a)) Returns: #<Dictionary 123456>

If the Void type is sent an Add message, an Lambda is invoked to output an error message. The reason is that the Void type, or #void constant cannot be used as an operand of a binary add. To invoke the Lambda that responds to the Add message, issue the following statement:

(send Add: X 1) Returns: Cannot Add to value:#void

Alternatively, the Lambda may be invoked using the following syntax:

(Add: X 1) Returns: Cannot Add to value:#void
