Example Lambda defchild 001

 

 

Description

This example shows how child Lambdas can be defined in separate source files from their parent.

 

Details

The following are two separate forms.

(defun foo(x) pvars:(y) (setq y x)) Returns: #<Lambda 123456 >
(defchild foo:sum(x) (+ x y)) Returns: #<Lambda 234567>

These forms are quivalent to the following single form: 

        (defun foo(x) 
            pvars:(y)  
           (defun sum(x) (+ x y))
           (setq y x))
Returns: #<Lambda 345678>

We can invoke the child Lambda with the following references:

(foo 10) Returns: 10
(foo.sum 3) Returns: 13

Notes and Hints

A Child Lambda DOES share the same pvars and cvars structures as its parent Lambda. A Friend Lambda has a different pvars structure as its parent Lambda, but the cvars structure of a friend Lambda is the pvars structure of its parent Lambda.
